A mountain Pass Theorem and the moduli space of minimal immersions
Thursday, 4 April, 2024 - 14:00
Résumé :
Inspired by a paper by Gonçalvez and Uhlenbeck, we address the question of parametrizing the class of minimal immersions of a closed surface
in an hyperbolic 3-manifold by prescribing the complex structure and a Dolbeault cohomology class.
This problem can be rephrased in a variational framework, and is equivalent to proving the existence and uniqueness of a critical point of the associated functional.
In this talk I will present a new Mountain Pass Theorem that turns out to be extremely useful to prove such a statement.
