We review some recent results on well/ill posedness of the Euler system arising as a model of an inviscid compressible fluid. In view of these results, we propose a method of selection of solutions based on the stochastic approach via Markov selection. Applications are given to the compressible Navier-Stokes system driven by stochastic forcing.
